Floor Tiling
Floor tiling consists a well-developed process usually exercised by professional floor-tilers, however you can also learn how to do it yourself if you take the time.
You can undertake floor tiling in a range of spaces, from homes to corporate sites, retail sites, commercial areas and public spaces. Floor tiling can also be undertaken in a variety of rooms whether it be a kitchen, office, bathroom, bedroom or even outside in a space such as a courtyard.
Before you begin floor tiling, work out what materials you wish your tiles to be made from. There are a wide range of materials such as clay, terracotta, ceramic, porcelain, slate, marble and quartz.
Each have a differing level of durability, some are more water resistant than others while others are more salt resistant. It is important to do your research to find out what tiles are best suited to your surface so your floor tiling can be as effective as possible.
The process of floor tiling begins by cleaning the floor to be tiled. You then measure and mark the space in preparation for the tiles to be laid down. Apply the correct adhesive to the surface and then lay the tiles down being careful to lay them down evenly by using a measuring device such as a level.
You can then continue your floor tiling by spreading grout over your tiles to fill in the gaps and finish by cleaning away any excess grout according to the manufacturers instructions. As part of the floor tiling, you may also need to apply a waterproofing product to the surface.
